My Story my motivation

When I got out of the service in 1990 I was in the best physical shape of my life.  I was 5' 10" and weighed 210 Pounds. I measured 48 inches around the chest and 30 inches around the waist. I was a awesome sight but, I was sick. High Blood Pressure. This was the beginning of the domino effect that started when I no longer ate at the chow hall, were the food was prepared fresh everyday, and started eating out at fast food restaurants 

You see from the time I was 13 I have kept track of my physical well-being.  During the summer of 1970 at the age of 12, I grew 6 inches and went from a 98 pound weakling into a 5' 6" 119 pound monster.  That next summer I grew 3 inches and was 5' 9"  and 152 lbs. I was this size until  until 1974 and grew to be 5' 10"  162 lbs.  I graduated H.S. in 1977 and was 5' 10" 172 lbs.  When I graduated college in 1981 I was 5' 10" 172 lbs. 

That next year I joined the Army at 5'10" 172 lbs. When my time in service ended in 1989 I was 5' 10" 210 but this was all muscle, like I said best shape of my life.

It was after I was released from the service that I really got into physical fitness taking several PE classes at the University and even a kinesiology class. But wanting to challenge myself I decided to make civil engineering my major and that next semester change my major to mathematics. This is when my problems started. 

I am a man that goes to bed at 9pm and wakes at 5:30am everyday.  When the math got harder and I had to study more my sleep cycle got disrupted. It became so bad that I got maybe 2 hours of sleep between work and school. The mental frustrations became obvious and I could not go to sleep until I solved the problem I was trying to solve.

The lack of sleep kept me tired and I turned to sweet sugary things to keep me going.

Eventually over the next 2 years I had ballooned  to a weight of 310lbs. I was still working out everyday but that was not enough.

It was at this time I started studying sleep. This is what I found to be true:

We have a sleep cycle. The body releases a hormone when the sun goes down that makes you sleep and after 1 to 2 hours starts producing a hormone that keeps you sleepy.

 Once sleep your digestive system starts it's digestion, repair and waste evacuation process. These processes will not occur unless the body is at rest and in R.E.M. sleep.

Sleep deprivation is a root that will lead to death if not taken care of.

The body needs to repair itself and purge the body system of unwanted waste that when backed up will lead to illness and death in extreme cases

Once I got my sleep disorder under control I started sleeping, once I started sleeping I started  to lose weight. 

I had never had to loose weight before so I had to devise a plan. I knew that the more intense the workout the better results you will get. I chose to use  power lifting as my model. This would ensure that I would maintain muscle density as I lost weight. 

It worked, and the hard work seemed to pay off, I was on a high protein low carb diet(with one day a week of carbo loading), but the sleep disorder was still there and after a doctor's physical I discovered I had more than just sleep to worry about. High blood pressure, high cholesterol and I was diagnosed as being hyperglycemic. 

So even though I was a 210 lb. rock, I was still sick.

In 1998 I did my first Amateur power lifting competition and did well. I set 3 world records for my age group(over 40) and my weight class(198lbs.)

That next year I decided to do a amateur  body building competition. I did well also placing 4th in the Open Division of the Mr. Indiana competition I weighed 198 lbs. with less than 4% body fat and when I had my physical I was still sick. This was depressing to look in the mirror and see the specimen that I had become and still being sick was terrible.

Two weeks after the competition I came back to the gym dedicated in winning next years contest but on my way out of the gym, on my first day back, I told the owner Mr. Walt Tindale a former Mr. Universe(Senior Division) that when I grow up I wanted to be just like him and he responded "even Walt ain't Walt anymore". This man was 70 and looked 40.

He died several minutes later while working out.

After that I did not work out for 2 years and I got even larger......... I weighed 340 lbs.

So I do it again, this time the only exercise I did was walk sometimes as much as 10 miles a day. My diet consisted of sandwiches of baked BBQ skinless leg quarters or breast on whole wheat bread with milk and orange juice for drink.

This very high protein diet caused me to loose weight fast, but I felt weak most of the time and guess what, I was back to 210 lbs. but I was still sick.

When I stopped walking the weight eventually came back and by 2000 I was 350 lbs. for the first time. It was at this point that I opened the Bible and there it was right on the first page. I thought to myself all this time and what I was suppose eat was right here. I got up and cleared my entire apartment of anything that was not a vegetable because on first sight I just knew that was what the Genesis diet was. 

So I buy all the fruits and vegetables I can and that was all I ate. But I did not loose weight, so I go back to the gym

I was the first one there and the last one to leave. Sometimes I would work out twice a day and I finally lost the weight and I looked amazing even I have to say that I have never looked this good but......

I could see the cycle and I could not figure it out.

Then I read an article about a Doctor that said the cause of all disease had to do with the bodies'  pH and could cure all disease. This doctor won a noble prize for this so why was no one pursuing this fact.

He proved that no disease can exist in a Alkaline state.

Then one day while visiting my Mother in the nursing home and seeing all the sick people there and all the sick friends I know I decided that I had enough. I decided that day that we are sick because of the food we eat. I made a promise to God and my mother that I would find the answer and I dedicated my life to find the answers. My kids and grandkids deserve better.

On March 5, 2001 I gave away all my worldly possessions and started walking. I had no idea were I was going or how I was going to get there or how I would survive, but you know what my (SPIRIT) was at peace. I felt a real filling of contentment and I took that as a sign and I stepped out.

I spent the next 3 months walking from Indianapolis, IN to Jackson, MS. On my journey I had very little money and all I could afford was carrots, apples, peanut butter, and whole wheat bread.

I lost more than 40 pounds on that journey and after I got there I did my physical at the VA. Now I new that surely the high blood pressure would be under control but it was not.

 

After I found a job I needed a place to stay. I Barter. I prefer not to use money, but that's another story. My boss had a processing plant about 2 miles from the job that he let me stay at to watch the property. Now at that point Jackson, MS was recovering from hurricane Catrina so the place was still flooded in some areas. The nearest store that I could walk to was 2 miles away. So everyday after work I would walk 2 miles home and grab my back pack and walk another 2 miles to the store. This particular store had a abundance of very large seeded watermelons for $2 each. These melons were at least 30 lbs. each. And it was a struggle getting them home because of a very steep hill. But as time past the journey became easy. That summer I ate nothing but watermelon and salt. This was the perfect combination because I worked outside in the sun for 8 hours a day and would sweat so much that by the end of the day I would have constant cramping for several hours. This was taken care of with the salt and when I switched to sea salt the cramping stopped.

With the diet of just watermelon I assumed that I would not live long but not so. That next year when I went to the VA for my physical the doctor told me that what ever I was doing to continue. My bad cholesterol was now normal, My blood pressure was perfect, my resting heart rate was 58 bpm. She checked my colon and told me that keep doing what you are doing.

 

Well now that I was physically healthy I decided that this was the time to test foods for adverse reactions.

 

So I started adding foods back into my diet and checked to see if they affected my glycemic index, blood pressure or sleep cycle.

First I added milk because that was a staple of my diet. I  drank milk with every meal since I could remember. 

I no longer drink milk. Milk causes me to swell and my joints become stiff not to mention constipation or runs and  bloating in my gut. I cut that out and that made a big difference in my joint pain and stiffness.

Next I added bread. Same thing swelling stiffness constipation.....

I decided that this was not going to work so I turned to reading labels on the food packaging labels to see if that could help me decide what to try.

I noticed that almost all foods were adding the newly approved Hydrogenated oils and hi-fructose corn syrup.

These newly approved items came with small print. These were warnings. They said that these substances were safe in limited quantities. I did some research and will no longer have those items in my diet ever again.

This went on for years. I could not find foods that I ate that I was not (as I would say) allergic too. 

I tried every diet there is. Vegan, Vegetarian, Paleo, High protein, Low carb you name it none works without serious exercise. I was at my ropes' end when I talked to my brother. He told me that he knew of a Herbal Healer who talked about making the body Alkaline and even has proof from court cases that he had cured several patients who had aids and other life threatening illnesses. 

I was skeptical but my brother loves me and does not lie on purpose.

This happened 4 years ago and at that time I was sick and fat and tired. At 376 lbs. I decided to look into this man. He had a list of preferred foods.

I ate the foods from his list. Drank the water he suggested and good things started happening. Every food that I tested on me from his list caused no adverse reactions. With out medication or exercise I, after cleaning my Colon, started filling great. 

I lost over 200 lbs. in less than 2 years and after reaching my targeted  weight I have not gained or lost more than 5 pounds since.

To make a long story short...I lost over 200 lbs. without exercising counting calories or nothing. As a matter of fact when I make my own dishes like when I learned to make blueberry muffins from scratch, all I ate for a month was blueberry muffins........guess what, no adverse affects what so ever.

I would like to share this diet with everyone. I ask for no money simply that once you try it and it works, as it should, you give this gift to someone else.

Now I am not a religious man.  I just found a statement of truth and freely give to you.

You will know if this diet is of a truthful nature by this: You can tell the tree by it's fruit. If the fruit is good the tree is good. If the tree and fruit is good than give also to others who hunger and thirst for truth.
